The Ministry of Home Affairs has set up a control room in Jammu and Kashmir to actively monitor and coordinate the rescue and relief operations in the state which is reeling under one of the worst floods in almost six decades.

Meanwhile a team of officials headed by JS (Disaster Management) has been instructed to make its base at Srinagar and monitor rescue and relief in J&K.
The official Twitter handle for the Indian Army is tweeting updates about its flood relief measures so far and said that over 20,000 people have been rescued so far from the region.
16 relief camps have been established so far and over 65 medical teams are operational in the state, the army spokesperson tweeted.
More than 5,200 people were rescued from various parts of Indian-controlled Kashmir, O P Singh, director of India's National Disaster Response Force was quoted as saying in an AP report.
